The sprawling city of Los Angeles is divided into many neighbourhoods with names such as Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Long Beach Santa Monica, Malibu and Anaheim with are familiar across the world. Each has its own unique feature!
Probably the most famous of California’s beaches is Malibu, just west of Los Angeles and home to many celebrities. There are, however, many less familiar but arguable more attractive coastal spots, such as Pismo Beach, 3 hours’ drive north of Los Angeles, where you will often see people and sea otters hunting for clams, and where Dinosaur Caves Park is worth a visit.
San Francisco is one of America’s great walking cities and with a good pair of shows backed up by a Muni ticker – a ‘passport’ giving unlimited use of the buses, trains and streetcars – you can see almost everything in the city without the need of a car or taxi. Don’t forget to visit The Golden Gate Bridge, arguably San Francisco’s most famous landmark.
